Snug FME Mat

If you choose to have wood, laminate, or carpeted floors we recommend using our Snug FME Mat, along with a layer of closed cell insulation underlay. It’s also helpful to note that if you select a wood or laminate floor, it’s best to install a floating floor finish if fitting underfloor heating beneath it, to allow for the wood to expand once it warms.

It is important not to screed over the FME mat as it will react with the foil and corrode both elements, rendering your system unusable. The Snug FME mat is a 150W/m² mat, so it is ideal for secondary heating and combined with the insulation it only uses 4mm of floor depth.

Snug Mat 200 w/m²

Our Snug Mat 200w/m² is perfect if you are looking for a primary heat source underfloor heating solution, where there are no other sources of heat in the room such as a radiator.
Just like the 160 w/m² Snug mat, this extra powerful system can be used under marble, tile, or stone flooring, making it ideal for conservatories, kitchens, or bathrooms.

Our Snug Mats feature one single connection cable which is wired to the mains electricity supply. This helps ensure installation is as straight forward as possible, as you simply start your installation at the nearest point to your thermostat and can finish anywhere in the room, there’s no need to start and finish laying the mat in the same spot.

All of our Snug mats are 500mm wide and are available in a range of sizes from 1m² to 15m². For larger rooms, you can fit multiple mats, which can be easily wired into the same thermostat.

Snug Water Underfloor Heating Systems

If you are looking to heat a large space or multiple rooms in a property, then water underfloor heating may be the best option for you. It becomes a much more cost effective and energy efficient choice, primarily because you can run your underfloor heating at a lower temperature than with traditional radiators, therefore reducing the amount of energy required to warm a room. As a result, water underfloor heating is also a perfect complement to renewable heat sources, such as air and ground source heat pumps, which tend to produce lower temperature heat outputs.

At Snug we pride ourselves on ensuring that our systems are as quick, simple, and straight forward to install as possible. With this in mind, we supply full pipe layouts and flow rates as standard for all of our water underfloor heating systems. In addition, we’re the only supplier in the market to provide low-profile board designs for our low-profile system, advising which board to lay where and how the pipe should be laid; removing any installation planning time out of the install phase of a project and giving installers, whether they are installing for the first time or seasoned professionals added confidence.

To get the best results from a water underfloor heating system, you’ll need to choose the best one for your particular needs and there are three system types within our Snug Water Underfloor Heating range to choose from: in-screed, low-profile and suspended floor systems.

Snug Suspended Floor Systems

Our suspended systems are designed for use in properties which feature joists, either in the ground floor or upper floors and benefit from not needing a screed or damp-proof membrane.

The Snug Suspended Heat Plates are ideal when regular spaced 400mm joists are present and the floor height cannot be raised from its original level. The heat plates have self-retaining grooves, making installation an easy one-person job and are available in 2 spacing options, either 200mm or 133mm, depending on the desired heat output.

Our Snug Fit-From-Below heat plates system are ideal for renovations, when you want to add underfloor heating to upper floors but are only renovating the lower floor and have the joists exposed. The single tile J-plates also allow for fitting in irregular spaced joists, increasing their versatility.

Both Snug Suspended systems work well in irregular shaped rooms and use 16mm PEX or PEX-AL-PEX pipe.

Snug Pipe

All of our Snug water underfloor heating systems use AL-PEX or PEX pipe. Made from five-layer cross-linked polyethylene with an EVOH oxygen barrier, it makes the system last longer compared to other pipe variations. Using PEX pipe in your system is more affordable and easier to lay with a team of installers whilst AL-PEX contains an aluminium core that retains its shape once bent – making it invaluable for single installers.
